Maia Nikolova is an American-Bulgarian writer, director, and producer. She is head of Internal Communications for 7to8 Production and Distribution and worked as set dresser for 7to8’s most recent film, Burden of Proof. Maia is currently a senior at the University of Pittsburgh getting her BA in Film and Media Studies with a certificate in Television and Broadcasting, anticipating graduation in December of 2025.  

 

Maia most recently wrote, directed, and produced a horror short film titled Welcome Back, which was featured in the Burgas International Film Festival (2025) in Bulgaria. Maia was also selected to participate as a Youth Jury in the Burgas International Film Festival, and continues to pursue her filmmaking career abroad. Other film productions Maia has been involved in include A Better Day (production designer, 2025), We All Leave at The End of the Night (producer, 2025), and Handle With Care (production assistant, 2024). Maia’s future projects include 7to8’s film Devout, where Maia will be a part of the managerial team. 

 

Maia Nikolova continues to follow her passion for filmmaking, directing, writing, producing, and acting within the Pittsburgh film community, as well as creating her own independent projects. She is very excited to be a part of the 7to8 team and is always looking forward to starting new film productions.
